ARE YOU PAYING TOO MUCH FOR YOUR SEASON TICKET?

If you travel beyond Fenchurch Street you have two options:

• Purchase a Season Ticket which includes Underground Zones, or….
• Purchase a ‘c2c only’ Season Ticket and use Oyster Pay-As-You-Go (previously known as Pre-Pay) for your Underground Journeys.

Depending on your circumstances the second option might be cheaper. Here are the facts …

• Oyster single fare for Zone 1 is £1.50, so that’s £3 return each working day;
• Typical working year is 228 days (261 weekdays, minus 8 bank hols & 25 days leave)
• 228 days at £3 per day is £684 (add £3 for each extra day you work)
• The price of a ‘c2c only’ Season Ticket (to Fenchurch Street) plus the extra £684 works out cheaper, by £116, than a Season Ticket with all Underground zones.
(The equivalent savings against (say) 11 Monthlies is £160, or 47 Weeklies is £256!)
The savings described above only apply if you use the tube only twice a day (to work/from work).

If you use the tube/buses more often, read below:

FROM TILBURY TOWN, GRAYS, PURFLEET, CHAFFORD, OCKENDON:

• c2c-only Annual season to Limehouse costs £1,400
• Annual Zones 1-2 Travelcard (purchased at Limehouse, Tower Hill, etc.) costs £888
• Total cost £2288, i.e. £52 cheaper than the (Z.1-6) Travelcard from these stations.

FROM EAST TILBURY, STANFORD-LE-HOPE:

• c2c-only Annual season to Rainham costs £1,008
• Annual Zones 1-6 Travelcard (purchase at Rainham, Tower Hill, etc.) is £1640
• Total £2,648, which is £40 cheaper than the Travelcard from these stations.
