The Government announced yesterday, 17th March 2005, a number of transport
schemes for more detailed appraisal. In the Thames Gateway area, two projects
could effect c2c services:
C2C Tilbury Loop Capacity Upgrade (£12.2m) Lengthening of station platforms
along Barking-Dagenham-Grays-Pitsea rail route to enable increased train lengths
of 12 cars. This provide increased transport capacity linked to proposed 18,500
homes in Thurrock and 13,000 homes in London Riverside.
Fryerns / Craylands, Basildon (£5.5m) Direct site access, together with enhanced
public transport and walking/cycling access, to unlock land for up to 660 homes
and allow for regeneration of adjoining estate.
The outcome of the studies should be know by September this year.
