From the Yello Advertiser Thursday, 19 February 2009 PLANS to launch the Oyster Card at four C2C stations in Thurrock are still facing delays.
The Oyster Pay As You Go scheme was due to be expanded to Chafford Hundred, Grays, Ockendon and Purfleet last summer. But while card readers have been installed since late 2007, they have still not been switched on.
The Thurrock Rail Users Group (TRUG) described the ongoing delays as very disappointing.
A TRUG spokesman said: “This is a missed opportunity on the part of C2C, as the convenience of Oyster would have encouraged more people to use the train.”
The Oyster Card can be used on buses, trams, London Underground and overground, the Docklands Light Railway (DLR) and some National Rail services in the Capital.
Up to £90 of credit can be stored on the card. |
